Dawgs Making Impact at Nationally Ranked Programs

The Dawgs Academy program has always prided itself on its ability to provide post-secondary opportunities for its athletes, evident in its 100% success rate in facilitating college baseball opportunities to graduating players since its inception in Okotoks in 2007. 10 years, over 100 graduates, all given an opportunity to play college baseball. As a testament to the continued growth of the Dawgs Academy, former and current Dawgs are not only represented in Colleges throughout North America, they are garnering attention from nationally ranked organizations.

For those reading that are unfamiliar with college baseball and there rankings here is a quick breakdown. There are 3 major governing organizations in college athletics (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA). NCAA and NJCAA are structured by divisions (D1, D2, D3). Divisions are primarily dictated by school size, budget, and the ability to offer scholarships. The number of colleges with baseball programs within these associations, plus smaller associations such as the CCCA, CCBC, and NCCAA, equate to roughly 1700 schools. Ranking criteria for these schools differ by organization, but they will typically only list the top 10-25 programs. For example, there are just under 300 NCA D1 baseball programs. 25 of them receive a ranking (top 8%).
The rankings are subject to change, typically re-tiered every week. Here are a few former Dawgs at, and currently committed too, ranked programs (2018-03-20 rankings)

Matt Lloyd, INF/RHP, University of Indiana, NCAA D1, Ranked 11th

Garrett Kirkwood, OF, Columbus State University, NCAA D2, Ranked 9th

Chase Dreger, RHP, Southeastern University, NAIA, Ranked 3rd

Clayton Keyes, OF, Central Arizona College, NJCAA, Ranked 12th

Greg Student, OF, Mesa Community College, NJCAA D2, Ranked 1st

Will Undershute, LHP, Southeastern Community College, NJCAA D2, Ranked 17th

Brett Platts, INF, Southeastern Community College, NJCAA D2, Ranked 17th

Caesar Valero, INF, Oregon State University, NCAA D1, Ranked 1st

Noah Geekie, LHP/OF, Barton Community College, NJCAA D1, Ranked 13th

Cole Tucker, INF, Iowa Western Community College, NJCAA D1, Ranked 16th

Ayden Makarus, C/INF/OF, LSU Eunice, NJCAA D2, Ranked 2nd

Ethan Francis, RHP, Southeastern Community College, NJCAA D2, Ranked 17th

Gavin Logan, C, Southeastern Community College, NJCAA D2, Ranked 17th

Several other Dawgs have offers pending from nationally ranked programs, but have not yet formally committed. For privacy reasons they have been left off this list. Many others are attending strong programs that have not managed to scratch this week’s ranking. Congrats fellas, keep making us proud. GO DAWGS!
