The Dawgs Advantage

The Dawgs Advantage

The Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Academy has its origin with the Calgary Dawgs Youth Program that began in 1996 and became one of the preeminent youth development programs in the country producing numerous NCAA college players, Canadian Junior National Team players and Major League Baseball amateur draft selections. The vision was and continues to be to offer high-level and dedicated, youth players the opportunity to realize their dreams of playing baseball at the collegiate or professional level. Since 1995 over 40 Dawgs players have been drafted by or signed contracts with Major League Baseball organizations, and many are still playing professionally today. Over 180 Dawgs have played at the collegiate level, many excelling as All- Americans and/or All- Conference players both athletically and academically, with many now embarked on further studies or successful business or professional careers. The Dawgs Academy is extremely proud of our graduates and excited to provide new players, every year, with the opportunity to succeed as college or professional athletes and more important, to succeed in the “bigger game of life.

Unmatched Competitive Schedule

Dawgs have “been there”. Our coaches’ intimate knowledge of top tier youth baseball in both Canada and the United States enables our Academy teams to play the most aggressively competitive schedules in North America.

Dawgs regularly compete at the most highly scouted Canadian and American tournaments including Perfect Game Showcasesthe Best of the West in British Columbia, Buckeye Elite, and Butler University National Wood Bat Championship.
Dawgs phenomenal facilities, the Seaman Stadium Complex, enable the Dawgs to host elite tournaments at every level.
Dawgs regularly “play up” against  Western Canada's top college programs.
Dawgs participate in a USA tour providing our players with both premier competition as well as maximum exposure to US college programs.
Dawgs host a College Showcase each fall exposing our players to college coaches at some of the top US college programs.
Dawgs players participate in a “state of the art” Speed and Strength training program based on the latest developments from MLB, Team Canada and elite college programs. Fully administered by our professional training staff in our state-of-the-art Indoor Training Facility.
Dawgs enjoy year round training in the Duvernay Fieldhouse which provides an off-season environment unlike any other in the country. The weight room and large field turf infield allows players to fully engage with coaches and trainers on a daily basis.
Dawgs aggressive off- season skill development program allows our players at every level to constantly work with our professional coaches in Canada's top amateur indoor facility.

Education

Dawgs Academy enjoys outstanding partnerships with two top level high school programs in the province, Holy Trinity Academy (HTA) and Foothills Composite High School (Foothills) providing our players with the ability and expectation to excel both in the classroom and on the field.
HTA is continuously ranked in the top 6% academically of all Catholic schools in Alberta.
Foothills offers our students opportunities to explore their skills in a classroom setting, while also providing an online learning HUB to access all class notes and turn in assignments while on the road
Both HTA and Foothills are committed to working with Dawgs Players to ensure academic success.
Both HTA and Foothills are short walks from our facilities and offer our Dawgs Academy Players excellent educational options.
Dawgs Academy includes an Academic Adviser who together with Dawgs Coaches is regularly in contact with both HTA and Foothills to ensure academic compliance.
