In their 8th game of the college tour on Wednesday, October 4th, the Dawgs Academy took on NCAA D1 program Seattle University at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, WA.
the game boiled down to two innings where the Dawgs pitching and defense couldn’t minimize, giving up 11 runs between the 4th & 5th innings, losing by a score of 15-2.
Despite the final outcome, there were several standout performances on the day on both sides of ball.
Mitch Heinrich (‘24 uncommitted) got the start on the bump, pitching 2 innings while allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4. Will Labonte (‘25 Arizona State University commit) pitched one inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Santiago Rodriguez (‘25 uncommitted) pitched 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 3 and walking zero. Austin Collins closed it out with a clean 9th inning allowing 0 hits, 0 runs and 1 strikeout.
Offensively, Eric Machej (‘24 Illinois State University commit) led the way going 2 for 4 with an RBI double. Other Dawgs that chipped in with a hit include Quincy Jenkins, Louis-Charles Larouche, Jack Lussier, Chase Logan and Landon Kauffman.
The Dawgs will have a much needed day off on Thursday before they head south to take on Linn-Benton Community College on Friday, October 6th in a double header.
