Congratulations to our Dawgs 13U & 15U Black teams on winning the Baseball Alberta Provincial Championships this past weekend in Spruce Grove, Alberta!
Dawgs 13U defeated the Calgary Cardinals by a score of 5-1 in the championship game behind strong pitching from Lochlan Lavery pitching 6.1 innings while allowing 1 run on 3 hits while recording 3 strikeouts. Parker Juangco would record the final two outs to close the game out. Offensively, the Dawgs were led by Ethan Renaud going 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Xavier Hall, Riley Monk and Maclane Tetarenko each chipped in with an RBI.
Dawgs 15U Black easily handled the Leduc Black Gold 47’s, winning the championship game by a score of 11-1. Owen Swennumson got the start, pitching 5 innings, Swennumson allowed 1 run on 4 hits while recording 6 strikeouts. Grady Suba was lights out, allowing 2 hits while striking out 4 in 2 scoreless innings pitched. Offensively, Colton Ullyett-French spearheaded the onslaught. Ullyett-French went 2 for 4 including a double and home run with 4 RBI. Ray Han was the spark plug for the offensive unit going 2 for 3 including 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Taye Thierman went 2 for 3 with a double, 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Will Lapohn went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 runs scored.
Both, Dawgs 13U & 15U Black, will head to the Baseball Canada National Championships in Woodstock, Ontario from August 24-27.
