Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club
Okotoks, AB – Media Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club in conjunction with the Western
Canadian Baseball League (“WCBL”) is pleased to announce that the 2021 WCBL All-Star Game th
will take place at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, Alberta on Saturday, July 24 . The Dawgs, with average attendance of 4000+ fans per game, are not only the top drawing franchise in the
rd
WCBL but are ranked 3 in all of North America among summer collegiate clubs in attendance.
Notably the only clubs attracting more fans in summer college baseball than the Dawgs are the Madison Mallards (Wisconsin) of the Northwoods League and the Savannah Bananas (Georgia) of the Coastal Plains League. No other team, Canadian or American, attracts more fans than the Dawgs!
WCBL President, Kevin Kvame of Lethbridge confirmed that the league was thrilled to award the 2021 showcase to the WCBL’s top drawing franchise as well as its largest market, that being the greater Calgary area. He further remarked that “since the completion of Seaman Stadium, which is one of the finest modern facilities in all of college baseball, the Dawgs have been proud ambassadors as the WCBL’s flagship franchise.”
The 2021 WCBL Allstar Game will not only showcase the league’s top players but will also entertain fans with a Home Run Derby, a Musical Concert, fan friendly barbeques and other events.
The WCBL is the premier summer collegiate league in Canada and unlike other summer collegiate circuits based in the United States showcases top Canadian as well as American talent at collegiate level. Numerous Dawgs and WCBL alumni have gone on to be drafted and enjoy success with Major League Baseball organizations including the Dawgs own Jim Henderson of Calgary who enjoyed success pitching with the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets.
The Dawgs also introduced the latest addition to beautiful Seaman Stadium, Core 4 (+14) Corner, an iconic new viewing area featuring expansive hospitality patios that wrap around the left field foul pole and create a phenomenal atmosphere along the lines of the Green Monster at Fenway Park in Boston and the Crawford Boxes at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. The name “Core 4” is a homage to the original Dawgs Youth Team which became an elite youth baseball powerhouse across Canada and the United States dating back to the mid-1990s and continuing to the present in the form of the highly successful Dawgs Baseball Academy.
The Dawgs also announced that their 2021 Season Ticket Campaign as well as Online 50/50 draws will be underway in the next few days. To purchase season tickets and other inquiries, please call the Dawgs front office at 403-262-3294; or visit www.dawgsbaseball.ca for more information.

September 2nd, 2020 Okotoks, AB – Media Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Western Canadian Baseball League is thrilled to announces that we have opted to move our premier showcase of talent, the WCBL All-Star Game from Edmonton to our top drawing franchise and largest market, Okotoks. The game will take place on Saturday July 24th, 2021 at Seaman Stadium. This move was necessitated due to the stand still in our disappointing dealings with the City of Edmonton.
The Okotoks Dawgs since their relocation to the Calgary bedroom community in 2007 have been the league’s top attendance drawing franchise due to their base od incredible fans and phenomenal support from their drawing area. The Dawgs, as well as the league, are proud of their stature as the third top drawing franchise in all North American summer collegiate attendance.
Since the completion of Seaman Stadium, which is one of the finest modern facilities in all of college baseball, the Dawgs have been proud ambassadors as the WCBL’s flagship franchise.
The franchises success emulates from not only their support in Okotoks but also the MD of Foothills and the greater Calgary area.
The league attendance has increased significantly over past 10 years as fans embrace:
- Quality of baseball
- Historic, uniquely Western Canadian community rivalries
- Enhanced, fan friendly, facilities throughout WCBL
The WCBL is honored to showcase top Canadian as well as American talent at collegiate level. In fact, at the All-Star game we not only have an award for the MVP but also the Canadian MVP like the CFL as we are proud to showcase our homegrown talent. Many of the players showcases in the All-Star game are destined for professional baseball careers.
The Western Canadian Baseball League is without a doubt the top summer collegiate league in not only Western Canada but the entire country!
- Among the best leagues on either side of border.
- High quality of competitive baseball (WCBL players have been drafted by MLB, playedwith MLB organizations right up to present day)
- Yet special as uniquely Canadian
- Preserves Western Canadian historic and multi-sport community rivalries
- unlike other summer leagues based in US, WCBL cares about and actively promotes our finest Canadian athletes
