The Dawgs are thrilled to announce that 5 Dawgs Academy players have been selected to the final Canadian Junior National Team’s 20-man roster for the Pan-Am Qualifiers in Panama City, Panama from August 2-11.
Congratulations to OF Eric Hartman (Michigan commit, Braves 20th round draft pick), INF Leo Cote (Oregon State commit), INF Tim Piasentin (Miami commit), RHP Michael Yusypchuk (Missouri State commit) and RHP Max Poirier (uncommitted) on making the final roster for the Canadian Junior National Team!
Prior to the final roster selections, Team Canada had their final selection camp in Cary, North Carolina as they played Team USA in a Friendship Series. As part of the final selection camp, 27 athletes from across the country were invited to tryout for the final 20-man roster, 6 of which were Dawgs Academy players- Eric Hartman, Leo Cote, Tim Piasentin, Michael Yusypchuk, Will Labonte and Max Poirier; all of which showed well during the Friendship series
Eric Hartman was a staple at the top of the lineup for Team Canada while Tim Piasentin and Leo Cote were consistently hitting in the middle of the lineup. All three had exceptional performances throughout camp. Michael Yusypchuk and Max Poirier were both exceptional in their outings on the mound, while Will Labonte also pitched solid.
Congratulations once again to our Dawgs that have earned the incredible opportunity to represent Canada and the Dawgs!
Go Canada! Go Dawgs!
