Congratulations to Dawgs Academy alumni Micah McDowell (17th round, Miami Marlins) and Eric Hartman (20th round, Atlanta Braves) on officially signing their professional contracts after being selected in the 2024 MLB Draft.
Micah McDowell had a stellar Dawgs career followed by 5 years at NCAA D1 powerhouse Oregon State University. In the spring of 2024, McDowell hit .382 with 12 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs with 33 RBI and 42 runs scored for the Beavers.
Eric Hartman first joined the Dawgs Academy in 2021 and he has been the catalyst for a potent Dawgs offense ever since. In 2024, Hartman split time between the Dawgs and Team Canada Junior National team. In 44 games played this spring/summer with the Dawgs 18U Black, Hartman hit .381 with an OPS of 1.029 including 8 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs with 31 RBI and 48 runs scored. Hartman’s best tool is his speed and it showed on the base paths, between 2023 and 2024, Hartman had 94 stolen bases and was only caught stealing twice.
Congratulations Micah and Eric!
