Congratulations to our Dawgs 15U Black team on winning the 2024 Baseball Alberta 15U AAA Provincial Championship in Okotoks on Sunday, August 4th. This year’s championship marks the 3rd provincial championship in a row for the Dawgs 15U Black team.
The Dawgs went 2-1 during pool play, earning them the #1 seed in the tournament heading into Sunday’s playoff round. In the semifinals, the Dawgs would take on the Olds Spitfires. The Dawgs would cruise to a 9-1 victory as Colton Ullyett-French was dominant on the mound. Ullyett-French would throw a complete game allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits with 9 strikeouts and 0 walks. Offensively, the Dawgs were led by Dallas Tanaka going 2-for-4 with a HR and 4 RBI with 2 runs scored.
Following the dominant win in the semifinals against Olds, the Dawgs would take on the Red Deer Braves in the provincial championship with the winner earning a birth in the Baseball Canada National Championship in Laval, QC.
The Dawgs offense did not skip a beat, putting up 6 runs in the 1st inning and they never looked back, as they easily beat the Braves by a final score of 14-2 to secure their 3rd straight provincial championship. Offensively, the Dawgs were led by Ethan Renaud going 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI with 3 runs scored, and Eddie Griffin going 2-for-5 including a 3 run home run that would enforce the 10 run-rule to secure the championship.
