The Dawgs 18U Black had a six run third inning en route to a convincing 11-1 victory in the rubber match of the season series against the Vauxhall Jets on Tuesday in Okotoks, taking the season series 2-1.
The Dawgs bats came alive in the first inning when Cesar Valero hit a two-run double to get the lead early. It was in the third inning when the Dawgs rallied together to score six runs. The offensive onslaught was led by Dryden Howse and Nicolas Tremblay, both with singles, followed by Kendall Keller hitting a double and Bailey Coish hitting a triple. Collectively, the Dawgs managed to tally twelve hits with Valero, Cazorla, Tremblay and Keller each collecting two hits apiece.
On the mound, the Dawgs staff was dominant. Jordan Lussier started the game and earned the win. Lussier pitched six shutout innings of no-hit baseball while walking one and striking out six. Branden Woods allowed the loan run in the game after surrendering back-to-back doubles in the seventh inning. Melvin Lorenzo pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Dryden Howse shut the door in the ninth inning to secure the victory.
