The Dawgs 18U Black snatched the lead late in the game in a 4-1 victory over Victoria Mariners on Saturday.
Jordan Lussier got the start on the mound for the Dawgs. Lussier was outstanding in the four and one-third innings he pitched, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six. Lussier would ultimately get the no-decision.
Melvin Lorenzo came into relief, earning the win, after pitching two and two-thirds innings. Lorenzo kept the Mariners at bay, allowing zero runs and just one hit while striking out three.
Offensively, the Dawgs had contributions in the victory top-to-bottom and managed to tally six hits including three doubles by Alejandro Cazorla, Ricardo Sanchez and Dryden Howse. Other hits were provided by Bailey Coish, Nicolas Tremblay and Jean-Luc Bussieres, each collecting one hit apiece. Tremblay, Valero, Howse and Kendall Keller each chipped in one RBI apiece.
The Dawgs 18U Black improve to 3-0 in the Kelowna Invitational Tournament, outscoring their opponents 21-3 in the three games, and secure the #1 seed in the championship game tomorrow at 1pm PST.
