OKOTOKS, AB — The Okotoks Dawgs proudly congratulate alumnus, Jim Henderson on winning the World Series as Major League Pitching Coordinator for the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers captured their first World Series championship Wednesday night, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 4-1.

Henderson’s baseball journey began close to home. A member of the original Dawgs team in Calgary in 1996, he helped lay the foundation for the organization that would become today’s Okotoks Dawgs program. Playing with the Dawgs at numerous US showcases, Henderson attracted the attention of college coaches ultimately earning full rides to Midland JC in Texas and Tennessee Wesleyan University. Jim was selected in the MLB draft while suiting up with the college Dawgs.

Three decades later, his success is a proud moment for the Dawgs family. His path to baseball’s biggest stage required extraordinary perseverance. Henderson spent 10 years in the minor leagues before making his Major League debut with Milwaukee in 2012. He went on to pitch for the Brewers and New York Mets, completing his MLB playing career in 2016.

Henderson carried that experience into coaching, joining Milwaukee’s minor league coaching ranks in 2018. He steadily advanced through the Brewers organization, coaching at Helena, Wisconsin and Triple-A Nashville before joining the Major League staff in 2022.

Now serving as Milwaukee’s Major League Pitching Coordinator, Henderson celebrates a World Series championship with the same organization that gave him his first big league opportunity.

For current Dawgs players, Henderson’s journey demonstrates where dedication to the game can lead. From his earliest days with the original Dawgs to his years developing as a professional pitcher and coach, his story reflects the value of persistence, learning and hard work.

The Okotoks Dawgs join their fans, players, alumni and families in congratulating Jim Henderson and the Milwaukee Brewers on this historic achievement.

“Once a Dawg, always a Dawg.”
