Former Okotoks Dawg standout and member of the original Dawgs teams, Jim Henderson has reached the next milestone in his baseball journey, as the Milwaukee Brewers have officially named him Pitching Coordinator for the 2026 Major League Baseball season.

Henderson began his baseball career in Calgary, AB and grew up playing summer ball with the Dawgs before moving on to collegiate baseball in the US. Drafted in 2003, he ultimately made his Major League debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012. Over parts of three MLB seasons with Milwaukee and time with the New York Mets, Henderson compiled a solid career with a 3.61 ERA and 31 saves, earning respect as a fierce competitor on the mound.

His best season came in 2013, when he posted a 2.70 ERA and 28 saves across 61 games — a performance that remains a highlight of his playing career.

After retiring as a player, Henderson began a new chapter in coaching within the Brewers organization. He quickly transitioned through roles in player development, starting as a bullpen coach in the Brewers’ lower minor league system before serving as pitching coach for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds.

Henderson joined the Brewers’ Major League coaching staff in 2022, initially as the team’s bullpen coach. He then served as assistant pitching and strategy coach, helping shape Milwaukee’s pitching approach at the highest level.

With the announcement of the Brewers’ 2026 coaching staff, Henderson has been elevated to Pitching Coordinator, a role that will see him oversee pitching development and strategic implementation across Milwaukee’s organization.

Henderson’s success resonates far beyond Milwaukee. He has also represented Canada internationally, including pitching for the national squad at the 2011 Pan American Games, where Canada earned gold, and in multiple World Baseball Classics — accomplishments that earned him recognition among Canada’s top baseball talents.

From Dawgs alum to Major League coach, Jim Henderson’s journey is one that inspires young Dawgs

players dreaming of baseball success both at home and abroad.
