The Dawgs Academy has been fortunate enough to develop some great talent over the years, and has always had a presence on Team Canada’s Junior National Team. Simon Lusignan is the latest Dawgs athlete to continue that tradition and carry the torch representing the program.
Lusignan got the start on Tuesday March 10 against the Ft. Lauderdale Stars in Florida during Team Canada’s first trip of the 2020 season, and Simon was impressive. Lusignan pitched 3 innings while allowing 1 unearned run on 4 hits while striking out 1 and walking zero.
“I was very happy with my performance today. Early on, hitters were aggressive on my fastball, and I had to start mixing in my slider and split, just pitch a little more. It was good to get a feel early on and settle down, give the team a chance to win.” – Simon Lusignan
Simon is scheduled to pitch again on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Florida.
Go Simon! Go Canada! Go Dawgs!
